Friendly service and plenty of dog lovers! You can bring them and they will give your dog a water bowl. The price is kinda high...but they are generous with their portions and it's a beach going rate. I had the vegan Mediterranean quesadilla, which was generously stuffed with veggies. U fortune tally there was way too much oil. It was swimming in it and flowed out when I picked it up. It took away from my appetite but my moms lobster plate looked good. Other people had good looking food. I guess it's a hit or miss there.

We went to Hobos when it first opened and LOVED it. It was fresh and tasty and original. Based on that memory, my friend insisted we return on our most recent trip, in spite of the mediocre reviews. What a disappointment. Portions are huge but flavorless, and as other reviewers have noted, extremely overpriced. My friends and I don't mind paying top dollar for a great meal, but we walked out feeling somewhat stiffed, full but unsatisfied.

Disgusting inedible ridiculously high priced and a dump The place stated happy hour and pet friendly. We choose this place because of bringfido.com . If you are one that truly reads and takes these reviews into account please take this one seriously and stay away. We ordered appetizer of baked brie, crab and artichoke dip. This was purchased dip from Costco or somewhere that the cook decided to add melted brie and make it their own creation. It was horrible, just awful. This was served this with day old bread, that they fried to TRY to make crispy and the outcome was oil soaked bread. Just ghastly. This was priced at 9 dollars. We also decided to order sweet potato fries please; please stay away. They were inedible. They were still raw uncooked through slices of sweet potato. When we confronted the server, he said this is the way we service them. And I replied how RAW!. He took them back and after 5 minutes the same plate came back and all that was done as these were nuked in the microwave......there was no crisp and they were still cold. The potatoes bent solid......GROSS. This was priced at 7 dollars. Everyone and anyone that reads this, please take my advice...stay away. Any reviews that were positive I feel were written by themselves or family and friends.

I read the reviews beforehand but decided to go ahead anyway. Probably shouldn't have. There is a certain undeserved pretentiousness about this place. The staff seem to be trying to intimidate you into buying overpriced menu items. I had the $32 stuffed flounder which was over cooked but ok. The crab stuffing might have had some crab in it. It was accompanied by a massive glob of cold mashed potatoes and some anemic vegetables that looked and tasted like they came from a Costco frozen medley bag. No seasoning - just sitting there looking pretty sad. My wife, who is a vegetarian, ordered a salad which came to the table with about a half pound of bacon mixed in even though the menu says nothing about bacon. My friend ordered the quesadilla, which, at $20, is the most expensive one on the planet. It's a flour tortilla with some shredded pork and cheese. Come on. Really, none of this food was very good and certainly not worth the price. You can make a great quesadilla at home from stuff you find in the fridge for practically free that's better than their $20 version. So go somewhere else for dinner or pay big bucks for pretentious nothingness. Or even better, cook something you love at home and have some friends over.

Worst meal I've ever had. It was like eating sadness in every bite. Party of six and none of us had a good meal. I grew up in the restaurant business and am very willing to be forgiving. However, in this case, with this undercooked food and the overlooked prices, I can only say to stay away from this place.

The service was the best part of our dining experience. First the napkins were filthy, the toilet didn't flush. I told the server they should put a sign on the door. The server recommended the butternut squash soup. Good flavor but thin. He also recommended the truffle fries. They would have tasted better if they were not soggy. My husbands roasted veggie sandwich was served on a cold roll. How about serving it on a hot toasted roll? My wrap was okay but the small salad tasted like mold. I was not feeling the love from the kitchen

I had the eggplant Neapolitan. The eggplant was so over cooked that it was mush. The flavor was good but there was so much liquid the couscous was undetectable. The dish was more like a soup than an entree. Service was extremely slow. Wait staff disappeared for long periods of time. Drinks were not refilled. Unfortunately I will not be back.

The host was warm and gracious, seating my friend and me immediately in their charming outdoor patio. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. My friend ordered soup and a Greek salad with chicken. I had a different soup and a beet and goat cheese salad with chicken. We each had seltzer water with cranberry. The bill (before tip) was $70. Yes. Seventy United States Dollars. My soup was good but the salad was overdressed and had very little goat cheese. Their "thing" is organic, farm to table, gluten free blah blah blah. Great. Did I mention two bowls of soup, two salads and two seltzer waters cost $70 before the tip? Crazy, stupid expensive for mediocre food. I will not be back. (P.S. Lest readers think I'm simply a picky, cheap, nogoodnik pain in the neck, tonight I happily paid $90 (before tip) on a wonderful meal in a similarly lovely atmosphere.)

I want to love this place but sadly I don't. The host is personable with a sense of humor; however, some may think prematurely familiar. The food is fairly pricey but, hey, you're at the beach. $20+ quesadillas as entrees just doesn't sit right with this San Diegan. The soups are rich and scrumptious but the entrees need refinement. My side Seafood Mac n Cheese was devoid of seafood - and flavor - yet heavy on oil and pepper. The expeditor not knowing the chicken quesadilla from the vegan is plain inexcusable. The truffle portobello quesadilla was tasty but greasy and seemed deep fried. I want them to do well and succeed - and I hope they do because they really seem to be trying - but the best part of my meal was the bottomless glass of ice water.

Liked it a lot. A bit expensive but very good and very creative. Now that Planet X is closing, this is our go to next time.

The wife and I went there for the first time last night even with the mixed reviews, afterall a restaurant can have a bad night or not please everyone. Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted and prompted seated. Our waiter,I am bad with remembering names, was pleasant, and professional. I dont know if its because the summer invasion is over but I found the prices very fair. We started off with brie dip appetizer, and then moved onto the Budda Bowl for her and the Pho for me. The portions were large, had to take them home. As a local I try not to venture downtown in the summer, but when the tourist are gone I enjoy exploring the places I havent tried yet. If you tried Hobos in the summer, give it a second try in the off season. Best part Happy Hour runs all night!!!!!!!!!

Great service and accommodating to Vegan and Gluten free peeps. Music was fun, a little pricey but worth it.

The tamale bowl was delicious. The Greek salad was pretty good - and came with a good sized portion of grilled tofu and lots of kalamata olives. My only complaint about the salad was that you could not do dressing on the side. We also had the hummus appetizer. The crostini was delicious. The hummus was not very good.

Just not good. A meal needs to be at least one of the following- delicious or reasonably priced. A party of six and not one of us had something good to say about our meals. My "blackened" halibut was so white I honestly thought it was a new take on this type of dish. That is until I saw a picture if what it was meant to look like, and I now realize I was served an unfinished meal. Extra charges and an incorrect bill only solidified our decision to never come back again. So many other choices in the area, so why bother.

They did not have the pesto for my sandwich, which was a major draw in ordering, but they did have Nick delivering the news. *Sigh* Scandinavian Nick with the tattoos, dancing merman-eyes that sparkled like the sea, and that easy, musical laugh that prompts you to imagine a life far more beautiful than the one you have. If you gotta bear some disappointing news, it should be required to be delivered by a Nick. Nick gave us amazing service. We watched as the chef came out to several tables (ours included) to discuss the exact nature of someone's food allergies and how She could best accomodate them. All of this while dealing with a 30 -top that just "popped in". The food was pretty excellent, minus the pesto.. The service was the best I experienced in Rehoboth this trip. I can easily see making it a regular haunt this spring/summer.

I have eaten here several times over a period of years. The experience has always been "interesting". Unfortunately, my most recent visit was very unpleasant. My wife and I asked to sit inside and were shown to a small middle table between the bar on one side and another table on the other side. The only patron at the bar was seated just at the table we were to occupy and servers were squeezing between the table and the bar patron. Since the place was not crowded I asked for a larger table towards the back and out of the flow of traffic. That's when I got the first inkling of trouble. To be frank, it appeared to me that the guy seating us had an attitude. He said that table was reserved (there was a sign) but then started telling me, in a piqued voice, that he could not seat two people at a table designed to seat four. To my future regret, we sat down at the small table. We ordered eggplant dip with the deep fried (i.e., extremely fatty) dipping bread. I have had the fatty bread before and it is delicious. I ordered a dry Bombay Sapphire Martini straight up. I've had the same drink on previous visits to Hobo's. As before, the drink was just OK because of a slight bitter aftertaste that I never detect in a properly mixed Sapphire Martini. For $12, I would like a smooth drink. I ordered the grass fed hamburger to be cooked medium rare and paid the up charge for sweet potato fries instead of white potato. I also added Swiss cheese to the burger. I found the fries quite greasy but delicious and ate most of a large portion while drinking my bitter martini. Then I took a bite of the burger. To my dismay, the burger, which was served on what appeared to be a thick dense bun was dry and tasteless. I looked and the burger appeared brown and dry. As our server had not been around, my wife eventually asked a passing server to find our server. I then told him my burger did not appear medium rare as it seemed to be brown throughout. He asked if I wanted another or anything else and I declined. He removed the burger. My wife ordered a Quesidella. She found it to be large and delicious. She also liked the eggplant dip and fatty dipping bread. Shortly after returning my burger, the guy who seated us came over to our table. He appeared defensive and started telling me that the burger was cooked to the proper temperature and made some statement about Hobo's not being a fast food joint. This confused me as I expect medium rare burgers to be fairly pink on the inside (and I don't recall ever having fast food cooked to order). This guy went on about how they put all kinds of stuff in their burgers, like onion and vinegar, that makes them brown instead of pink. He just wouldn't let off so I said they might have told me when I ordered medium rare that it would not be pink or the server might have told me the burger was properly cooked instead taking it away. I did not feel that this guy was either apologetic or accommodating to my situation. The worst was yet to come. As I sat waiting for our check, my stomach began to hurt. I believe that the high fat bread, fatty fries, and bitter martini, and my not getting to eat the main course, ended up giving me an upset stomach because of the aggravation I experienced from the treatment I received at Hobo's.

For a pricier restaurant in a tourist laden town, you would think that customer service would be a top priority here. This couldn't have been a more incorrect assumption. While the servers & bartenders I interacted with were completely pleasant, their manager delivered a jaw-dropping performance of a genuine jerk. My boyfriend & I tried to eat here for my birthday lunch a little over a week ago. I knew one of the servers there, & after we hugged our hellos & she seated us at a table she began taking our order. My boyfriend & I are both restaurant managers & while I was happy to see a friend working there, I also have the utmost respect for a server needing to attend to her tables & not spend too much time talking to someone she knows. However her manager immediately began breathing down her neck every single time she came by our table. After ordering an appetizer, I asked our server to recommend a cocktail for me to order. While debating between which $10-$15 cocktail I was going to order, her manager came over yet again to tell her that another table needed their check. She acknowledged this, thanked him, & turned to me for confirmation on my drink. Yet the manager didn't leave the table! He snapped at her again, "NOW!" & stayed there until she had no choice but to walk away without taking my drink order. Would it have been so difficult for the manager to get the table their check for them if they were in so much of a hurry that he had to yell at a server in front of another table? My boyfriend & I ended up leaving without eating or drinking anything. We wanted to spend our $50+ in a restaurant where a manager has respect for his or her employees & does not treat them like animals or misbehaving children. Sorry Hobos, but with so many other amazing restaurant within a stones throw of your front door, you can't afford a manager with that kind of awful attitude & energy.

Visiting from Phx. Nice little place. The Lobster Mac N Cheese is must for fans of Mac N Cheese dishes. Service can be slower so don't be in a rush. Patio seating was comfortable. Over all the facility is very eclectic. Many vegan and gluten free choices. Overall the value was worth the meal and time together we enjoyed !

Amazing place. I am not sure why the other yelpers have made such negative reviews. The staff was nice and the food was great. I have been on three different occasions. I will say that the more you come they will notice. My last time there I told the waiter that I was feeling a little dehydrated and as if my sugar was low. He came to the rescue by brining out a fantastic vegan blueberry cobbler and was very attentive to my needs. The food was great and the owners were very nice and welcoming on al occasions!. Definitely my crew's spot for when we are ever in Rehoboth due to us being vegetarians. If you are looking to dress to the nine or be amazing by decor this may not be the place with you. It is lacking in that department; however, the customer experience and food for me was amazing. The only thing I did have an issue with was sometimes we did have to wait a while for service but it did not take away from the experience.

VEGANS! AVOID THIS PLACE! oh.my .god. if there was a way to give this place negative stars, i totally would. i'll start at the beginning. my friends, my six year-old daughter and i stopped here after seeing that they had a decent selection of vegan options, myself and my daughter both being vegan. we should have known when at first we arrived that something was "off" and we should have fled. upon arrival, we were greeted by an empty hostess station on the dining porch that was covered with stained photocopies of the menu. we waited, and were finally greeted by what can only be described as a suspicious-looking server, who asked if we'd been there before. we said no, and that we'd like to dine inside, which apparently was a huge inconvenience as evidenced by him huffily disappearing inside after dismissively telling us to wait outside. upon entering the restaurant, there was a decided lack of ambiance. there was the hum and din of two floor air conditioning units visibly vented out of a window and a five gallon plastic bucket. classy. there was an almost hostile atmosphere in the dining room, as if we were disturbing a heated argument. it was bizarre. we were surrounded by ridiculously overpriced photographic prints of assorted botanicals. we entertained ourselves later by looking at the outrageous prices whilst we waited for our meals. much to my chagrin, we were handed reams of poorly photocopied, stained "menus". not even kidding. we each got three menus each, plus the drinks menu. they were printed in what looked like an eight or ten point font and visually just looked like an overwhelming run-on sentence. our server, holly, immediately asked if we'd been there before. this struck me as odd, having been asked by the host and also our server. i would assume, being a tourist-driven beach economy that most of their guests aren't locals. she then went into a spiel asking us pointedly if we had any dietary restrictions, and i mentioned that my daughter and i are both vegans. she said that this wasn't a problem, and that there were lots of options on the menu. i got a vegan burger, and a daiya quesadilla for my daughter. my veganism was brought up THREE times. when our food came out, my daughter mentioned hers tasted weird. later, i took a bite and realised that IT WAS REAL EFFING CHEESE. something my lifelong-vegan daughter HAS NEVER HAD. after spitting a wad of food on my plate, i knew that we were going to be in for a vacation-ruining GI blowout before we could even make it back to our beach house. my daughter's and my meal were comped, but holy crap, this is inexcusable, after making such a big darn deal about how sensitive they are to special diets, they BLEW IT. i hope this place sinks like the titanic.

Food was good. It took forever to be served, but we were told everything is homemade, so I guess it's to be expected. They even had a toy basket to occupy my daughter & accommodated her stroller. At the end of our meal, I asked the waiter for $2 in quarters to feed the meter & was told no. Ridiculous! I just spent $90 on a meal & you can't cash $2?! Soured the whole experience. Also, a gazillion flies!!

Went here with a friend, and thankful that we did since he picked up the tab. I want to start by saying that the food was decent and the portions are very generous. I also like the fact that they do "local." But for the price, I expected a lot more. The curried squash soup I had was probably the best part of my meal. We also got a hummus trio, but all tasted the same and were kind of bland. The beet and goat cheese salad was coated in dressing that was very heavy and left the salad looking somewhat unappealing. However it still had a nice taste profile and the beets were cooked well. My husband got the lobster and brie quesadilla....and it was definitely not worth the $32: just a tortilla thrown on a plate with some sauce. I had rice noodles and seared ahi tuni. I liked the noodles and the seared ahi was cooked ok, but I had a much better piece (for less $$) just last week. And again, the presentation failed as it looked like someone tried to cut the tuna with a really dull knife, so the edges were not particularly "clean" as you would see with most tuna that is cooked and presented this way. My two cents....cut the portion sizes and the prices, and focus on flavor and presentation.

Best food in rehoboth. Casual and nice atmosphere. During good weather, patio dining is wonderful. The food cannot be beat. Lots - LOTS - of choices, meat, veggie, vegan. Truly stupendous every time. I've sent many many people here, and everyone raves.

I've eaten here twice now, and was disappointed both times. My main gripe is the prices, which are not justified for the quality of the food or service. The host was a bit rude, the server seemed overwhelmed, and the expediter couldn't keep the orders straight. The food ranges from okay to not-so-great. We tried the roasted pepper dip and crab dip, both of which were mostly mayonaise and very heavy. They were served with "crostinis" which were thin slices of bread deep fried in oil which didn't taste all that fresh. The first couple of bites were tasty, but after that the greasiness overwhelmed. A small bowl of butternut squash soup was 9 bucks and tasted like a soup you'd get at the supermarket. The quesadillas are a whopping 20 bucks, served without any sides or garnish, and they are one of the cheaper entree choices. Mine was so heavy and greasy I could only eat half of it, and I'm the kind of guy that can eat 4 slices of pizza without a second thought. Sorry, but I won't be back until I see some better reviews.

The outside eating area is cute. Tried to order burger, asked for raw onions was told by our waiter no raw onions they only served cooked onions for their burgers, after it indicated I can add my choice of toppings. Didn't realize it was easier to cook onions then to serve it raw. I ordered fries. Restaurant was not accommodating, I did review the menu to see if substitutions were not accepted. Didn't see it. But I'm only here for my husband.

We had high hopes for this place, which touts locally grown produce and an eco-conscious aesthetic. Unfortunately, that's all a lot of hooey. The owner and "seasoned chef" by way of NYC, came by and raved about a menu item, which was her "best idea ever and that's saying something." So, not surprisingly, we both ordered the highly-touted "Buddha bowls"---one with tofu and one with "amazing" rockfish. Much to the Buddha's chagrin, I'm sure, nothing in his eponymous bowl was palatable. Everyone I know can pull off a passable Asian rice bowl, yet somehow both dishes managed to nail the frozen food perfecta of flavorless and unpleasantly-textured. The rockfish, as it turned out, was not amazing. It was fishy, bland and unevenly cooked, and came in artless giant lumps. The tofu, which can easily be wrangled into virtually any texture or flavor, lacked any pleasing semblance of either. It had a bizarre fake grilled taste and sharp edges. The vegetables were overcooked and sparse. While we ordered different sauces (sweet chili and sriracha) the sauces on the dishes we got, though over-abundant, were indistinguishable and sticky. The dishes arrived very hot, which made us wonder if they had been microwaved. Essentially, the loftily-named "Buddha bowls" contained an atomically hot mush of indistinguishable ingredients. The bowls did come with avocado - which was turning brown - cilantro, and a sauce called "Gingerlicious," which sounds like a drag queen but was far less exciting. Perhaps the most egregious part of the meal was the check. $65 without tip for a lunch of 2 terrible ricebowls, some soup, and a beer. OK, the food itself was the most egregious part of the meal, but $65 is an outrageous amount to spend for food this terrible. As other reviews have mentioned, we left feeling cheated, unsatisfied, and frankly, a bit queasy. And coopting the name of the enlightened one to flog this overpriced slop just might be enough to turn even the Dalai Lama away from pacifism.

Great service and food! Gretchen the chef/owner works the room and makes sure everything is perfect. They ask if you have any allergies and will make any dish to your liking. Try the Hoborita! It is my favorite drink!

This place is absolutely my favorite place in Rehoboth. It's so adorable, the outdoor seating surrounded by plants and lights. And the staff are super friendly. I've only been for lunch, and the sandwiches are HUGE and super fresh--most recently got the farmers market with turkey and was just so satisfied. And I keep coming back for the cucumber martinis. We also shared crab & brie dip, which was delicious. The food & ambiance just make me happy being there!

Hard to get past the price tag of $18 for a quesadilla. That has to be the best, far and away the best, quesadilla, containing ingredients and superior prep to justify the cost. Er..,no. Decent, but worth it at half the price. Veggie burger was good, chicken wrap was fine but Mediterranean one likely should have contained feta maybe? Decent place but gotta change the app prices...

Hobos is one of my favorite restaurants in Rehoboth for a very simple reason...AMAZING FOOD! I am a very picky eater and thye always accomodate all of my needs. I have gone with my three children and husband and I have visited for large night out type celebrations, and we have never been disapointed. My kids love to sit in teh little lounge area in the back of the restaurant adn the owner always comes out and gives them coloring books and other acitivities and makes sure they have "kid friendly" food choices! My husband who is not picky but very far from vegetarian loves their menu as well! I love the wild mushroom quesadillas and I could eat their perfectly prepared salmon everyday of my life! The kids love the quesadillas and fries and the hummus apps. My hubby loves the steak Buddha Bowls, adn the burgers. When we have been there with larger parties the executive chef owner has always come out to attend to our needs and requests and everyone I have ever taken to Hobos has raved about teh experience even the typicla "tough customers"! The menu is large and varied and extremely creative. This is not your typical vegetarian restaurant..everything from teh salas, soups and the main entrees are completely original and unique combinations of tastes! Although at first glance, this restaurant may seem to fit a small market niche, it actually has something for EVERYONE! It is a MUST VISIT on your trips to Rehoboth!

WOW! What incredible meals we have had at Hobo's. The menu is loaded with awesome! .... Oh and I mean AWESOME! We so enjoy the wonderful flavors, unique creations and the quality of the food. Extremely dynamic! The sweet beachy atmosphere is wonderful for families or sharing a relaxed evening with friends. We have dined in for dinner and gotten take away sandwiches to enjoy on the beach for lunch and always absolutely loved our meals. It is so hard to decide what to order. It is all sooo good. Hobos is a must when in Rehoboth. We make a point to work it into our eating schedule each visit. YUM!

I visited Hobos for the first time in late August during a vacation to Rehoboth Beach. I stopped in for dinner around 4:30 p.m. with my dog, a Shih Tzu, in tow. The food was fantastic, and service was attentive. I ordered a salad with lobster and a red pepper cream dressing which was flavorful. The lobster was tender and a generous portion. The mojito was delicious - made more so by the fresh mint from Hobos' garden. My server stopped back just often enough to ensure that I was enjoying my meal. The host stopped back twice to check on my dog's water bowl. Great food and service. cool atmosphere. I'll be back.

Large selection of veggie dishes, very friendly staff and management. The romaine salad with blue and "bacon" was very nice. Crab and Brie dip is simply decadent. The red chili budda bowl with salmon was a hit...we prefer our salmon grilled lightly, so this is not a test every place can meet. I thought the Sauvignon Blanc was too sweet, but the Chardonnay was much better...a little pricey at $9 a glass, but they give you a good pour. If you like a sweeter sauce, the hoisin is your choice. Who doesn't want to go back to a restaraunt that features Sriracha on the menu?

Worst experience in a restaurant so far. I went there yesterday with my friends and we got so dissapointed by the service, the food, the ambience, everything. The owner (the lady in cowboy boots) was by far the less friendly and super rude restaurant owner i ever met. She rushed us to pick a table, we wanted to sit outside and she basically told us to sit down and to be grateful to have a table. So imagine, that was the first impression... Not good. Waiters were not friendly either, they just left like 10 photocopies of the menu in a corner of the table, all mixed between restaurant week menu, normal menu and drink menu. We have to figured out that was "restaurant week" in Rehobot, nobody told us or explained us, they made us feel stupid everytime we asked for something, like if you were bothering them. They don't work as a team and that affects the service. Food wise, awful, my Seitan in beer sauce was so plain, that i bet was better eating it alone! My husband ordered the quesadilla which was huge in size and lack of flavor, anybody can warm a tortilla put cheese, chicken and avocado in it, why do I have to pay 35 dollars for that plus a crappy service? My friend got and awful meat cut and vegetables were far from good. IN SUMMARY AWFUL TASTE, WORST SERVICE EVER, AND NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Thanks for ruin my last night at the beach.

My parents, my husband and I visited Rehoboth this past weekend for a short getaway. Hobos was recommended to us by our innkeepers, and I am so glad it was! We stopped in and were the first guests at 5:00 pm for dinner (offseason feb 2014). We had absolutely phenomenal service. Additionally, my mother has a lot of GI issues and they were so accommodating. The food. AMAZING. My husband and I ordered the Tomato Basil Panzenalla soup to start. WOW. This was followed by a starter salad which my mother ordered; but which we all were able to enjoy. They are very generous with portions. My father and husband both ordered the Lobster Claw and Bacon quesadilla for their entrees. No skimping here; there were at least 8 large lobster claws - they give you your money's worth for sure!! I ordered the fiery Mahi with roasted garlic, veggies, and jasmine rice; possibly one of the best fish dishes I've had the pleasure of eating. My mother was also pleased with her salmon dish. I've noticed where others have commented that the service can be slow; however, I am from the DC area, and I appreciate that they aren't trying to push you out the door to turn the tables. This was an overall wonderful dining experience, and we will definitely be back during our summer vacation.

I was so disappointed in my recent meal at Hobos that I decided it was time to create a Yelp profile and write my very first review. I ordered the veggie burger based on the description in the menu posted online, but the result was nothing like the meal that I expected. Instead of the "edamame, oats, and bean burger with red pepper and olive tapenade," I was served an extremely greasy patty made up of potato and a couple slivers of portabello, served on a cold bulkie roll. Sure, maybe I should have confirmed the veggie burger ingredients when ordering, but regardless of the discrepancy between the online menu and reality, Hobo's should not serve such a terrible veggie burger when it prides itself on its vegetarian and vegan fare. As a vegan, I have tried many different veggie burgers over the years, and this one falls at the very bottom of my list. Moreover, Hobos cannot justify its prices. My meal was $15 -- for lunch! My companion's meal -- the crab, artichoke, and brie dip with crostini -- was $12, and the dip portion of her meal was extremely meager. I understand that there are limited options for vegans in this part of the country, but to other vegans out there -- save yourself the trip and the money, skip Hobos, and make your meals at home!

Hobos has fabulous food, a delightful atmosphere and the warmest owner and staff one could imagine. All dishes are clean sourced, with many ingredients grown locally. The vibe was casual and welcoming. We had the lobster quesadilla and a Buddha bowl. Both were delicious and portioned just right. To drink we had an NA pear-peach drink (they have a full bar though) that was tasty and we split the beet salad to start. It was a special occasion so Gretchen, the owner, brought us an apple with a votive inside, adorned with sticks in it (to guide us back), etc. It was a nice finish to one of the better dining experiences we've had in recent memory.

...went back a year later and had a so so expensive meal and super apologetic non-stop terrible service. The extremely social owner should be checking in on the patrons and service and if multiple things go wrong or are forgotten multiple times at least take a dang appetizer off my large bill or something. I feel like if a waiter and a manager comes over and apologizes multiple times at least make a gesture...geeeeez. Restaurant business 101! Sorry Hobos, you are now No Hobos to me.

TRAIN WRECK!!!! Sept 7 2013 We 4 adults arrived at 7:13 for a 7:15 rez and were seated in 8min. I ordered a bottle of wine from the 8 red wine selections and you know what happens, so forced for 2nd ok choice. Main course arrives at 8:50 and one of the 4 orders is wrong, so at 9:15, it arrives. They did comp the uber late order. Food was ok.. We believe our waiter was pulled from the kitchen help. He was nice but clueless on the job description for a waiter.

My girlfriend and I ate here yesterday and had a phenomenal meal. We were walking through town and had stopped to look at the menu when Gretchen (owner/chef) came out of the kitchen and welcomed us for a meal. The service and food were excellent. Patrick, our waiter, was very nice and very good at his job. My girlfriend ordered the crab and brie quesadilla - based on Patrick's recommendation. Outstanding. I ordered the Salmon Buddha bowl...with medium rare salmon and a mango salsa and fresh avocado. Outstanding as well. All in all - a great meal on a great weekend in Rehoboth.

Not sure why this place doesn't have a full five star rating; it was amazing! They were able to squeeze my friend and I and our two dogs in for a 7pm reservation on a Saturday night in June. They couldn't be more accommodating with our pups, filling their water bowls often and giving them lots of treats and pets. The customers were also so nice around us and loved petting them. The food came out fast and was SO yummy! The crab goat cheese dip started was so good I was eating it by the spoonful. The Mediterranean quesadilla was also huge and filling. We will certainly be back to Hobo's!

My fiance and I enjoyed a delicious vegan meal here. Not only was the service great (both from the waitress and the chef herself!), but also the food was fantastic. This was our first time at Hobo's, but it will certainly be a regular stop for us whenever we're in town from now on! This is a must for vegans and vegetarians, as they offer to modify any menu item to make it vegan (and tasty). The vegan mac and 'cheese' is undoubtedly the best we've had, and the seitan was quite delicious as well. Highly recommended!

I think it's interesting that there are 4 entries for this one restaurant on Yelp. It couldn't be that the owner is trying to run from bad reviews, could it? I thought it appropriate to copy my review from one of the other listings for this restaurant, but let me save you the time: don't go, ever. Review from other Hobo's entry: If I could give it negative stars I would, my wife asked for no cheese on her salad which resulted in the owner storming out of the kitchen and quizzing my wife as to why she didn't want cheese and just how lactose intolerant she really is (isnt that sort of like asking how how pregnant someone is?) We also asked for dressing on the side which was denied. Of course both salads came out drenched in dressing and were inedible. The owner has a terrible reputation around town and counts on uneducated tourist revenue to survive. Hobo's has been boycotted by locals, don't waste your time and money Please, just shut it down and perhaps pursue a career non-customer service oriented field

Awful. Owner is borderline psycho and the restaurant is filthy. Don't get me started on the food. Advertised as vegetarian - when it suits the staff. Stay away.

As another Yelper noted: "Terrible". Came here for a late lunch after enjoying the beach. We were the only people seated inside, with a couple of people eating out on the front porch. I was looking forward to trying this place, based on their menu, and was pleased by the interior decor. It went downhill from there. Ordered mojitos that they boast are the "best". In reality, it was the weakest I've ever had. I wondered aloud if there was any rum in it at all. Probably because they had the busboy make them. Brilliant. Despite being one of maybe THREE parties here, service was painfully slow. My girlfriend ordered an entree salad, and asked for the dressing on the side. Our waiter informed us it wasn't possible. Excuse me? Is it premade and being dumped out of a bag? He said they can do "light" dressing. Well, if you can go light on the dressing, logic would dictate you could also put it on the side in a ramekin. Her sister's bf ordered a burger "medium", which came out absolutely charred. I ordered the "buffalo seitan hoagie". When it came out, it looked like someone literally dumped a bunch of ingredients on a plate. When I confirmed with our server what I ordered (a HOAGIE), he said that's how they come. Umm....no. Just, no. This is the grossest misappropriation of the word hoagie I've ever witnessed. I mean, I know this ain't Philly, but still. He tried telling me the vegan/veg menu was "eclectic" and that they serve the hoagie open-face. Again, no. That's not a hoagie. Don't use the word hoagie anywhere on your menu. I really hate wasting food but it was so far from what I wanted. So I ordered the vegan quesadilla (after confirming it was, in fact, a quesadilla). It really pains me to give a vegan-friendly restaurant such a low score. I'd like to deduct the final star for the ridiculous, narcissistic portrait of the owner hanging in the dining room. Give me a break. Rather go to WaWa.

Gretchen is an amazing chef, she is very creative and everything we ordered was superb. I could eat the crab dip and blueberry halabit everyday. Actually we did eat the Crab dip everyday. If anyone is planning on getting married in Rehoboth Beach, Gretchen is the person to talk to. She catered our wedding and everyone is still talking about the food and the fact is that she did it during a monsoon in October of 2013. We really can not say enough good things about Gretchen and Hobo's.

Not the best or worst meal we've ever had...just blah overall! I inquired as to the spice level of the Buddha bowl/red curry and was told it was mildly hot. I guess it's a matter of interpretation, but when I told the waiter, I didn't like really hot food, I would have thought he would have conveyed that to the kitchen. Not so, which was odd as they claim to cater to all sensitivities. I did hear a waitress for the next table telling the diners that she couldn't guarantee that the kitchen would accommodate their request to leave some particular ingredient out of the dish. Strange, kinda goes against their philosophy I think. Out comes this unappealing bowl of mushy overly cooked veggies, with rice in the bottom of the bowl, which required some digging to get to. The chicken was bland, no seasonings really with the exception of the red curry spices. Other times I've had this meal in our restaurants there was a complexity and layers of flavors, sadly not with this dish in this restaurant. The ginger "goodness" they serve on the side was also very spicy, with little ginger flavor. My husband had the Potato Crusted Halibut w/Romesco sauce. The fish and sauce were good, but the potato crust was a inch and 2 inch thick of mashed potatoes that were cold in the middle. That is not potato crusted maybe smothered! Very disappointed to pay for a mediocre meal and leave with numb lips and tongue from the firey Buddha Bowl! Bummer!

Amazing food and excellent staff. The menu is both creative and delicious. Any one with dietary restrictions will be happy to find several choices and the staff is very accommodating with special requests. So if you enjoy fresh delicious food and great service you need to check out Hobo's.

Was given three different wrong menus and the service was slow. I ordered the faux Mac and cheese and literally CUT MY TONGUE ON A CERAMIC PEICE OF PLATE THAT CHIPPED OFF INTO MY FOOD!!! They took my plate (and evidence) away quickly and apologized saying they'd take money off of the bill. All the while, I'm holding a napkin in my mouth to soak up the blood. There was a lot. The bill was hugely expensive and only the Mac and cheese was taken off, even though I ordered a couple more things with the meal. I feel I could have atleast eaten for free since I was actually injured by them. The rest of my vacation was crappy since I couldn't enjoy any meal afterwards. And I still have a complex when it comes to vegan Mac and cheese. Shook my trust in restaurant food for a couple days. Absolutely horrible. Do not go!!

Loved this place! Such a great menu for the health conscious. We started off with mojitos (pricy at $10 per drink but they were delicious!) We had a wonderful seat on the front deck and could hear live music from a neighboring bar. The servers were very knowledgable and the chef will alter any recipe if you have an allergy. I wouldn't leave Rehoboth without trying this place!!

A mixed review for a mixed experience. The service was warm and solicitous. But -- our inquiry into the kids' quesadilla portions led us to order one for each of our kids (6 and 8); after the gargantuan quesadillas arrived, we realized we'd been steered wrong. We ordered two crusted-tuna/oodle dishes (I'd tell you the name of this house specialty, but Hobo's web page is showing a "bandwidth exceeded" error right now). The tuna was good, but the noodles and vegetables tasted as if they'd been sitting in a chafing dish for a while. I would join a group going to Hobos, but I wouldn't return on my own.

We liked it a lot, so it just shows you that people have varying tastes and experiences so don't judge entirely on the latest wave of negativity or a stale review from 2011. My wife says her eggplant quesadilla was excellent and my Greek salad with salmon was exactly what I hoped for - even with the dressing added in the kitchen - and Kara did an awesome job as our server, so a good experience overall. If there's a local squabble regarding the owner we weren't aware, still don't care and are glad we gave the place a try.

The place has eclectic decor, interesting menu, and overall a good place for the open minded diner. I am happy to give the first good review for this place. Went here on a busy Saturday night during restaurant week with the fambly. They seated us in minutes without reservations and service was excellent, albeit a bit frazzled. Hobos has a full bar and good bottled beer selection. Our appetizers were tasty and the portions were enormous! For entrees, the rockfish, shrimp and Cobia were good, as were the mashed taters and zucchini for sides. The fillet mignon was reportedly not so good, (we'll see what the dog thinks of her leftovers)!

Breakfast granola and canned peaches will never be farm to table, organic. Korean short ribs does not entail burnt chunks of meat tossed in bottled teriyaki. Underwhelming mashed potatoes are not the side dish to Asian entrees. Chunks of avocados are not Asian bowl ingredients. An owner that says her staff is "well trained and very pretty" deserves a waitron walk out. They are professionals working in her business, not seals. Sides to a menu entree should never be "a starch and a veg." Especially if the owner is waxing poetic on said menu. A seasonal goat cheese is not pureed red peppers mixed with supermarket goat cheese. Parfait is a wisp of fresh fruit layered with clouds of cream and airy sesame seed mousse, not gelatin heavy and tasting of three days in the refrigerator. When a table of five spends $300 for dinner plates should be cleared and not left on the table for thirty minutes. Also the wait staff should help out instead of calling for any bus boys. And finally, if we leave a personal item and come back to retrieve it we will certainly talk to the any bus boy who might have retrieved it and not the bartender that lied about not seeing it even though the bus boy gave it to the bartender for safe keeping. The star is for accepting walk-ons but skip this place instead. Finally, if customers and staff share the bathrooms maybe the staff could take a moment to sweep, take trash out and wipe the sink. So many other places to go, skip this place.

I try to eat here at least once every time I visit Rehoboth. The staff have always been kind and helpful to me. They accommodate dietary restrictions with a smile. Everything I've eaten has been incredibly tasty. Their mojitos are to die for! Yes, the prices are higher than at some other places in the area, but the quality of food and service makes up for it. They also accommodated a group of 5 who had to divide the check onto 5 credit cards. Be sure to visit the restrooms for the finest tacky decor!

one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at in rehoboth. even though we had a reservation, the host repeatedly refused our requests to sit inside, claiming that all of the tables were already reserved. this wasn't true, as we discovered when we asked our waiter to move us inside and away from the ant-infested window, which he did. other than that, service was very slow and the appetizer was left sitting long after we were done with it. as for food, the crab/Brie/artichoke dip was accompanied by greasy, deep fried "crustini," the oil overwhelming any other flavors. my Caesar salad entree was packed with the same oil-soaked bread, as well as gross limp onions and the foulest smelling charred chicken I've ever encountered. I asked for dressing on the side, which they for some reason said they couldn't do, but could do "light" dressing. when it came, the dressing was very heavy. to their credit, my parents enjoyed the Buddha bowls they ordered.

I thought the food was actually pretty good. We got a warm dip with crostini for appetizer. The dip was good, but the little toasts were outstanding. My friend and I got Buddha Bowls, which are Asian-inpsired bowls with rice and seasoned protein, with add-ons such are avocado, cilantro, and a sauce. Quite tasty. All was good until we got to see the manager in action. We were dining on the deck, which was made of standard 2x4s. A young, pleasant waitress accidentally dropped another patron's credit card, which inexplicably fell between the slats in the deck floor. It was entertaining watching as people came up with various ideas on how to retrieve the card. When all failed, but the card could be seen with a flashlight near the end of a board, we all expected that either someone would come out with a claw hammer and quickly retrieve the card, or they would comp the meal to the inconvenienced customers, and retrieve the card after closing, and returned it the next day. But instead of any apology (by the management; the waitress was contrite, though it was really not her fault), the manager made the other party pay with an alternative method, and announced so we could all hear that there was nothing they could do! How ridiculous! Another table (after the table with the missing card left) asked for the manager, and when he came out, told him that they couldn't believe that he didn't comp the meal to that table, and told him it would be easy to lift the 2x4 to get the card. The manager actually said: "I will not destroy the structural integrity of the restaurant!" Oh please. Most likely the board could be lifted with no damage and hammered back, or, worst case scenario, they would need a new 2x4. The manager was rude, defensive, and a little aggressive. An otherwise nice meal left us with a bad taste in our mouths. Someone with no customer service or people skills should not be left in charge of a restaurant. We will not patronize again.

Food-If you are vegetarian, vegan or have special dietary restrictions this place is great. But even if you eat anything, this is just a great restaurant. The food was very tasty with very generous portions. I am vegetarian so I had the farmers sandwich (spinach, brie, mushrooms, pesto). It was super tasty! Hubby had the Little Havana sandwich and was pleased. Deco- Very cute, modern decor, local art work featured on the walls, nice atmosphere Service- I think this was their best strength. The owner Gretchen saw us looking at the menu outside and really sold it. When we were inside she came around and spoke to us and all the other guest there. She told us about where to go in the neighborhood. She was very friendly and made my husband and I feel at home. The server Patrick was also very attentive, friendly and helpful. It was refreshing to have such warm staff. Probably the best service I can recall having in a very long time!

Fabulous spot with a great vibe and friendly service. The butternut curry soup was the best I've ever had and the blackened haddock with crab topping and crawfish mac was outrageously decadent. This restaurant takes special care of people with food allergies or who have special diets (especially vegetarian and vegan), but the main reason to go is for the great food.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Hobos! I was in Rehoboth Beach for Memorial Day weekend, and my group went to Hobos for dinner. Even though we had a sizable group (I believe it was 10 people), everything was fantastic. We had a reservation, and there was no wait for the table even though it was the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. The drinks were flowing, our server, Jane, was fantastic, and the food was a-maz-ing! The entrees are incredibly fresh, perfectly prepared, and HUGE portions. I had the crab cakes, and Hobos has absolutely ruined me on crab cakes for life. They were exquisite! I also got to try the salmon with dill, the lobster mac and cheese, and the crab dip. Everything was just fantastic. The manager, Gretchen, even pulled up a chair at the end of our meal to chat with us. She was so down to earth and was incredibly sweet! I will definitely be dining at Hobos when I'm in Rehoboth again!

A bit overpriced, but great service and a good option if you are looking for organic, vegan/vegetarians options. My husband and I visited Hobos on a Friday afternoon. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside. Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu and we started with the eggplant dip with crostini. I wish they had mentioned that the bread was deep fried. If I had known, I would have asked for plain bread. I find it a bit odd that the restaurant is proud to be green and organic but yet serves unhealthy, deep fried bread with their dips. I think regular french bread would be a better option. Hubby and I both ordered the vegan burger which was delicious but for 13 /(15 for added veggies)bucks I honestly would have expected it to be served with chips, fries, fruit or some type of mini salad. Instead, it was served with a few pieces of iceberg lettuce and 2 slices of tomato. In my humble opinion, some organic mixed greens, grape tomatoes and a little dressing would have really completed the plate both visually and taste wise. I don't eat iceberg lettuce at home and can't remember the last time I was served it at a restaurant! The burger itself was delicious though- a bit greasy for my taste but ample in size and as fresh as homemade gets! Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be going back. I'll just make sure to ask for un-fried bread next time!

I was sadly disappointed in this restaurant. My boyfriend didn't want to eat here the first time we looked at the menu so I kept it in the back of my head for our next beach visit. The hostess was the chef and all the selections on the menu looked promising. Well... it was greasy. We got a dip to start and it was like someone took the bread and soaked it in olive oil. Then my entree, polenta ragu was just no good. It reminded me of a Salisbury steak. My BF's fish had 2 inches of mash potatoes on top (is that something new?) and way too much sauce. I think the chef needs to get out of the door and back in the kitchen. I do have to say that our drinks and service was very good... they just need to work on the food. If you're a veg try Planet X, you will not be let down.

Loved it! I was a bit reluctant after reading the reviews but was intrigued enough by the menu to give it a try. We were greeted by the owner,Gretchen, who introduced us to our server, Jamie (her daughter). We were seated promptly and drinks were quickly ordered and served. The menu is daunting but both Gretchen and Jamie were very helpful. The crab, artichoke and Brie dip was great. Hummus was also excellent. The crowd fav was wild mushroom quesadilla with truffle cheese. I had the crab cake for my main course which I was told was "as big as your head." It was! Highly recommended for all you crab lovers. I dunno. I think this place is under rated. Great ambiance, nice people-and great service and outrageous food all in one place. Don't pass this one up!

I had an excellent experience at this restaurant. The staff was very friendly and inviting and I loved the relaxing and artsy ambiance of the restaurant. The food is mainly locally grown and they offered many healthy selections on the menu. I opted for the Mediterranean Quesadilla which they made for my challenging dietary restrictions - gluten free and vegan. They had many other gluten free and vegan options on the menu, and the chef took time to review the menu with me and make suggestions. The food was delicious, I only wish a bit less oil was used. Although I can't suggest them myself, I overheard the next table rave about their margaritas. I'd come back next time I'm in town and try another one of their delicious options!

As a vegetarian who lives with a meat eater finding restaurants can be challenging which is why I felt that Hobos might be a good stop while on vacation in Rehoboth Beach. We were greeted by a sparse crowd on a Sunday night despite a crowded resort. The good news was we were seated immediately. Hobos menu is eclectic and features many choices for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters. There were several good choices and the appetizers and salads were large and well prepared. I felt the entrees were a bit less pleasing. The pork tenderloin was well seasoned and sauces but slightly dried out according to my partner. I had the chili glazed halibut which was good but over-sauces. The chili glaze over-powered the mild fish and I end up scraping the sauce off the fish. The entrees were served with a squash medley and some rough mashed potatoes which were very good and helped soothe my tongue from the over-powering chili glaze. The dinner with two drinks was $82 without desserts or tip. Pretty pricey even for Rehoboth high season rates. Lastly, the night we visited the restaurant was having a difficult time maintaining the air conditioning in the place. I don't know if this was a fluke or signs of a problem.

My friend and I arrived late on Saturday night, fresh from a three-year-old's birthday party all the way down in southern Maryland and STARVING. We hastily peeped the menus of a few places on Baltimore Ave., and made the mistake of settling on Hobo's. Lured in by a unique menu and the chef's approach to vegetarian and organic-styled options, we got there a bit late for the full menu, so we decided to split some things and taste a handful of dishes. These included the guacamole and pico de gallo, the bruschetta with olive tapenade and some crab thing, the filet mignon salad with raspberry balsamic dressing and the zucchini flower quesadilla. My friend had some forgettable cocktail. The service was confusing and of very little help. Neither the host nor our waitress seemed to know what the hell was going on. They were out of half of the menu, including cocktails, and our waitress forgot our drinks. The host did tell us it was his first day, so that's forgivable. But perhaps his time would be better spent learning the lie of Hobo's land instead of gawking at the man candy partying across the street at Aqua Grill. First out was the guacamole (sour and lime juiced to high heaven with little heat or salt) and pico de gallo (average) accompanied by stale chips. I told the waitress and she promptly replaced them. Still, a pretty big error. The bruschetta--gag me. The baguette wasn't toasted, and the olive tapenade tasted like what I imagine those pig fetuses we used to dissect in 10th grade would taste like--and looked like chopped up piggy flesh too. How could olive tapenade be so devoid of flavor? The zucchini quesadilla was the best, but a little too over-the-top to eat more than one slice. The salad, while good, was swimming in dressing and either the chef uses the giant grind setting on her pepper mill, processed the raspberries or a gust of beach wind blew into Hobo's that day, because the entire salad was a grit-fest, like there was a teaspoon of sand in every bite. This disappointing experience came in at around $60--not bad, but you can eat for a lot less in RB. Our waitress, while she didn't charge for the cocktail, didn't take off the bruschetta, which neither my friend nor I touched, even after saying "Oh, you didn't like the bruschetta?" Bummer.

Our dinner at Hobos was the highlight of a quick stay in Rohoboth - we wish we had Hobos in New York (Manhattan). The service was friendly and helpful. The vegetarian and vegan selections were imaginative. Both the fish eaters and the vegetarians loved the food. The only reason for 4-star and not 5 was I thought the quinoa salad was a mite too sharp in the seasoning. If there were 4.5, I'd give it 4.5.

Coming from California I was looking for good vegan fare. When I heard about Hobo's I was excited to try it. And then I did. I was not impressed over much with the options and everything was very expensive. I payed 12$ for an edamame patty on ciabatta bread which was half the size of the patty itself. There was no garnish when I first received the sandwich; no lettuce, tomato, or onion. There was also no dressing or ketchup. It was totally dry. It did not come with chips or fries. Did I mention it was 12 bucks? I will however give it one more chance as I found the staff friendly and understanding. But I won't be ordering the 17$ quesadilla and this time I will dine in on the patio instead of to-go on the boardwalk.

This restaurant, with its pledge to local, organic ingredients and seasonal cooking sounded great so we stopped in for dinner. The service was slow, but the hostess had cheerfully warned us that it would be. At a ratio of 1 waiter per table, plus hostess and other staff generally wandering around, it was hard to understand why staff were so slow. But, we appreciated the warning and choose not to hold it against the restaurant (we did eat there after the warning, right?). And, the outside table was very pleasant. The cocktail order didn't come out right. A decent cosmo was paired with a manhattan minus bitters and vermouth - otherwise known as straight bourbon. The food... well it was ok. Just ok. the crab and corn puppies appetizer was tasty, but with a gritty mouth feel that was a bit off-putting. We both ordered specials - a crab cake and lobster mac and cheese. The crab cake was one enormous cake, only cooked on one side - probably because it lacked the structural integrity (or chef's skill) to be flipped. It was ok, but came with some amazing zuchinni - really, the best we've had the summer. It also came with some of the worst pilaf we've ever had. The lobster mac and cheese was pretty greasy (seems like a common complaint here) and the lobster was very overdone and chewy. I probably wouldn't go back here or recommend it to anyone. Great concept, poor execution.

With out a doubt the least desirable restaurant we have been to yet in Rehoboth. the service was terrible, had to stop the waiter twice to request that we put in our order. Then once we had the appetizers we wished we had never stopped him. the crab dip I am sure had NO crab in it at all, and if there was some, it was pulverized. And the whole dish was overwhelmed with Red Peppers. the Entrees were much worse, ever plat had red peppers on it, and all of the flavors that should have blended into wonderful meals, tasted like red peppers. when I asked to speak to someone, I was met with belligerence and resistance, and never did talk to a manager or owner.

Seems the service is getting a bit better... I have absolutely no complaints in regards to it, though I was there for a late-ish midweek lunch and the place was hardly busy. I did appreciate that the chef/owner Gretchen was walking around asking how food was, how diners liked it so far, just general chattiness. The crab and artichoke quesadilla was boring but acceptable. For $10 you'd think there would be some lump, but it was all backfin. The filling was sparse and thin, and could have used some additional veggies. The cuban sandwich sounded amazing but did not quite live up to expectations... the bread was greasier than it should have been, and the flavors didn't meld the way they would in an exceptional cuban sandwich. It came with a potato salad, which was heavy on the dill, and not as cold as it should have been. I will probably be willing to try this place place again at the end of the season, if a menu item is able to entice me or a dining partner, but if it doesn't wow me then I won't bother to return. I do WANT it to wow me though... the concept is much better than so many places in town.

This was an exceptionally bad food experience. The food was quite bad, and over priced. The other reviewers either 1. Ate at a different place or 2. Lack any sensible taste.

Went there again this weekend (busy Memorial Day wknd)...Meal was overall good...although I think I lucked out more than my dinner companions did...I ordered the crab dip for the table...absolutely YUMMY...friends each got the tomato basil soup...the taste was smoky (pleasant) and flavorful but it needed to be pureed a bit...the consistency was a bit like spaghetti sauce, not soup which was a bit off putting to both eaters...I got the tomato/basil/mozzarrella salad...fresh and delicious (although the server asked if I would like chicken as an "add on" ...which I said "sure" to...salad came out without the chicken)...my vegetarian friend got the "chicken cheesesteak" which was a vegan friendly dish...he didnt like it at all...said it was too "all over the map" and the consistency was strange (warm some places in the salad and cold in others)...another friend got the mac and cheese which he LOVED LOVED LOVED...service overall was very good and attentive...other than the chicken mishap (forgiveable) smooth and personable without being over the top...Gretchen (the chef/owner) sure can work the room-she is a real personality. IWatched her handle what could have been an awkward customer situation (a friend of a patron and her girlfriend came into the patio area and were more or less loitering until their friends who were eating finished their meal...she did a nice job handling the situation without making anyone feel uncomfortable). am cheering for this place and I think that it is finding a niche but they could offer some lower priced options...my salad was $15, which I thought was a bit steep (even considering the organic factor)...bill for 3 people (no dessert, one drink each) came to $145.00, which I thought, given the portions and waht we ordered, was also a bit much...But we will be back.

Pretty good food. I was mostly attracted to the selection since it can be hard to find vegetarian food at the beach. I had the corn tamale which, while dry, was still alright. I didn't have any nasty interactions with the manager, so I can't comment on that, but my server was pretty good. Wasn't digging the lack of a/c in the place. Beach was HOT and muggy this past week. I've seen and smelled better bathrooms in developing countries in the middle of a drought.

This restaurant is probably one of the tastiest AND most accommodating I have been to in RB. The wife is vegan (and not just because she's a Bill Clinton fan) and was relieved to see such a wide variety of offerings for her on the menu. The kids and I also were relieved to see a wide variety of meaty and fishy things on the menu. Probably the weakest part of the menu was the wine by the glass - but that's minor - and the Rose was still fine. Everyone else stuck with water. The vegan quesadilla was as if very dairy - so everyone was happy. The wife ordered vegan tamales, which was a surprise since she can get vegi-Mexi in a lot of spots. Nonetheless, she gave it a thumbs up. One kid got Korean-like short rib in a rice bowl, and the other got Thai-like curry shrimp. Both enjoyed. I got fist-sized scallops that were terrific and cooked perfectly - very tender. We also all shared a side of vegan mac-n-cheese. Very tasty considering what it was not. The waiter was excellent - very attentive - only a little rigid about when he would explain stuff. But overall, a good experience.

Tough call to star this one. Open minded and rational about dogs? Deserves 5 stars. Eagerness and enthusiasm of the service? Deserves 3 or 4. Food quality? 2. At best. 1 for the price and presentation. Food quality relative to the image the place is trying to portray as being hip, gourmet and high-quality? They'd be lucky that Yelp doesn't have a zero option. We'll go with 3, since finding a place that's actually rational about dogs on the patio is so foolishly, painfully rare. But don't go for the food. Seriously, we trusted our enthusiastic (but, as it turns out, poorly informed) waiter on 4 of our 5 items. I'm coming to expect, if not accept, lukewarm or worse dishes, with cold, crusty sides plated in the early afternoon. Which we received. But this place failed even more fail than that. The pre-dinner cocktails were weak, odd and mostly melted ice (how long did they sit on the bar?). The wine was -way- the hell too hot, and horrid... but in a "bad wine that no one should recommend" way, not a "spoiled wine" way, so we couldn't really send it back. (Bonus points, though, for the flat-rate wine list... should not have let the waiter change our mind from our original choice, I guess.) The salad was a poorly-executed mishmash of ingredients that had clearly been made in bulk (ok in a deli... not at ~$20 each) that were each, impressively, precisely the wrong and unpleasant temperature. And, hey, in the middle of farmland, in the middle of summer, if you're going to have a "special" tomato salad... don't you think it should have more than 4 chunks of tomato... and maybe said chunks should have some flavor? One fish dish was so overseasoned they could have used cat food instead of a filet -- the flavor and nature of the fish itself was completely undetectable under a thick layer of try-too-hard sauce and a crusting of unnecessary spices. Worst of all, the "scallops and mushrooms with polenta" was, hands-down, the least appealing plating of a dish I have -ever- seen. And I eat in a fair amount of fast food and divey restaurants. Seriously, the scallops were covered in what must have been half a quart of thick, goopy, grey-from-cornstarch slop that would have been laughable had we not thought they were serious. The polenta was tepid and likely plated at noon, but the sauce was so unappealing that didn't matter. The hell of it is, both fish themselves were _wonderfully_ cooked. Very, very well cooked. Nearly every mediocre restaurant overcooks fish, and they were perfect. Damned shame they were ruined by glop and a ridiculously heavy handed seasoning. I'd ordinarily be beating myself up for picking bad dishes from a too-long, unable-to-be-executed menu, but we stuck with the -recommendations-. Go if you want a decent-looking restaurant with a nice patio that will welcome your dog. Do not go if you want a gourmet or cutting edge dinner. Free advice if they find this: Cut the over-long menu by 75%. Then cut at least 50% of the ingredients out of your dishes. Simple is good. You should have plenty of good source ingredients as the area seems to be teeming with farms and seafood. Trust them, cook them well, serve them simply. And store your wine in a proper fridge. That failure alone should earn you one star... even the horrid "wine" we were served deserves better.

Stumbled upon this cute little place on Memorial Day. We were drawn in by the advertisement of gluten free fare, as my partner has Celiacs. The atmosphere was very cute. It wasn't too busy, but this was mid-day on a holiday. Seemed a little pricey on the menu, but after seeing the portion sizes, you definitely get your money's worth. The food was excellent. I had a yummy, albeit sloppy sandwich. The service was a little slow. Our waiter kept forgetting things, like utensils. However, he was super nice, so this sort of made up for it. I will definitely be going back there again.

Six of us went to dinner and none of us will be back. Crab, artichoke and Brie quesadilla had almost no crab or artichoke. Rice bowl had under cooked crunchy rice. Salmon on menu came with wrong sides. Over priced for what they served. Bill was inaccurate. Prices charged did not match prices on menu. When we told the waiter the food was not great he went off in a huff.

Unfortunately, one of my friends spilled her drink. Management refused to comp this beverage (charged her for it), although it was barely touched. We came with a group of 18 and spent in excess of $400. We all felt that this lack of professionalism was disappointing.

Hostess, Gretchen and waiter, Patrick were charming and warm. Unfortunately, the lack of air conditioning on a humid night made the restaurant hot. Patrick was terrific with providing suggestions from the extensive menu. The seaweed salad was outstanding and refreshing...a different sort of preparation from the usual Japanese restaurant variety with some tangy spicy undertones as well as some ginger. My soft shell crab entree was beautifully prepared. My wife found her fillet and noodles somewhat unique but in a very positive way...conventional thinking and preparation does not go very far at Hobos. The menu selection is quite extensive with choices that are geared to every taste including a lot of interesting vegetarian choices and some interesting Asian fusion choices. Prices are somewhat expensive though not outrageous. The place does have a beach "feel" with an open patio though the interior is somewhat cluttered and a little musty. Bathrooms need some cleaning attention! Our drinks were well prepared and the bartender has a generous hand! The place was very crowded last night with nary an empty table, hence, the service was a little slow but Patrick was very contrite and apologetic and tried his best to make us feel accommodated. Overall, a good experience that could have been made a little better with a little bit of attention to the AC, and the bathrooms. Eclectic and fun. Enjoy!

I was extremely excited to find a vegan friendly restaurant in Rehoboth Beach. That is until I ate here. The first/biggest stumbling block was price. A "hoagie" (we'll cover why that's in quotes in a minute), an eggplant quesadilla and an order of Mac & Cheese should not equal $57. Period. We had no apps, no cocktails or beers, that price is literally for the 3 items listed and 2 diet cokes. The Mac & Cheese was served in a ramekin to give you an idea of the portion size that they deemed worth $16, I'll leave it at that and not go into how disappointing it was flavor wise. The eggplant in the quesadilla was so tough that my wife found it inedible. Now for the aforementioned buffalo seitan "hoagie", I'm a vegan yes but I'm also a born and breed east coaster, from Wilmington DE. Just south of Philly I KNOW what a hoagie is and this was not one. This was a salad. Yes, I grant you there was a bit of roll under the salad (not that it was visible) but when served a plate covered with lettuce and tomato with no visible sandwich I honestly thought I had received the wrong order. Had this been listed in the menu as a buffalo seitan SALAD I would have pictured what I received but it was in no way shape or form a hoagie, a hoagie does not require a knife & fork. Suffice it to say we didn't eat our food and left feeling disappointed and cheated. As a quick aside regardless of flavor & quality (or lack there of in this case) it's this kind of over the top price gouging that turns many potential vegan converts off of giving it a chance. It lends itself to the prevailing myth that it's simply to expensive to eat healthy & kindly. It's not doing the cause any favors.

Horrible. Extremely overpriced and over greased. Hummus trio was delicious but the crostini was deep fried. After 2 pieces I couldn't stomach another bite. Eggplant Napoleon came out with a deep layer of oil on the plate. The flavor was decent, but the amount of grease made it inedible. Boyfriend's burger was similarly saturated in oil. We split the apple cobbler, and it came out burnt, tart and heavily covered in cinnamon. $100 meal for barely edible food. Waiter was polite and personable, and the timing of dishes was fine, but definitely not a place i would go again.

Had dinner here with my family after the hostess (who I think might have been the owner) stopped us and said hello. We looked over the menu of locally sourced food and decided it sounded delicious. And different from a lot of the other beachy fare around. We opted to eat inside in the hopes of some frigid air conditioning, but it was warmer and stuffier than outside. The waiter was full of suggestions for both beer and entrees. My sister and I shared crab wontons and were expecting a crab rangoon type of thing. It turned out to be two big crunchy wontons topped with mango salsa and crabmeat. Excellent. For dinner I had a most unusual blueberry bacon cod on a bed of spinach. We were all too full to even browse the dessert menu. Before leaving I stopped in the bathroom - super cute! Lots of vintage book covers decoupaged to the wall and charming mirrors.

I really liked my meal. My husband didn't enjoy his so much. The menu is eclectic (as is everything else there). Service was decent and they allow dogs in selected areas. Portions were huge. Ingredients were fresh and local - some vegan options were on the menu.

Perhaps it was Memorial Day jitters, but attracted by a unique and healthy menu, was sorely disappointed with service. I tried to contact the restaurant rather than posting on Yelp, but the email I just wrote bounced back and the telephone answered with a computer voice answering machine. Alas. Service: No water at all until food was served, seemingly by a manager, asked, then served without straws, then asked for a straw and never got it. Server did not inspire confidence "I don't know this menu very well, let me just look at it here with you so they don't yell at me in the kitchen again." At the end of the meal, my friend had a kind of frowny face, the server said "are you OK? you just tired? having a bad day? I feel like that sometimes." No consciousness that it was the dining experience causing the frown or that if it wasn't, that's a pretty intrusive question. Diners were being told it was a 45 minute wait even as there were open tables, "kitchen backup." Food - menu looks really good and good alternative to the fried food that abounds everywhere. Curry chicken salad could be more moist and was pretty bland - i actually put salt on my sandwich. My friend had the burrito and her comment was "well, it's salad with a little bit of chicken." the cabbage dish that came with the burrito was also very bland. It really just tasted like cabbage with water on it. And one minor point: the Quinoa salad should be offered as a stand alone item. I didn't see it on the menu aside from in a wrap and as a to go salad. What if I wanted to eat it in the restaurant? Good luck!

We checked out Hobo's Restaurant for brunch. The Eggs Hobo are over easy eggs served over a buttered open faced ciabatta roll with pieces of pancetta. Delicious! The hummus, cous cous and roasted veggie wrap is also very tasty.

I loved Hobos! Even though there were a few things that I could critique about this restaurant, I am giving it five stars for its excellent menu, atmosphere, and service. As a vegan, Hobos had plenty of choices for me, which made it quite difficult to decide what to order. Our server was very friendly and helpful when I asked about items on the menu and was able to make some suggestions. My friend (a non-vegan) and I shared the artichoke soup and the couscous salad (recommended by our server). I ordered the roasted veggie quesadilla and he got some kind of lobster quesadilla. The couscous salad was delicious and we both loved it. I enjoyed my quesadilla, which was huge, though my friend wasn't quite thrilled with his. The artichoke soup was quite interesting, very creamy and pretty tasty. The only thing we were able to finish was the salad (like I said, amazing!), as the portions were quite large. I agree that this place may seem expensive, but I feel that the quality and integrity of the food is reflected in the price. AND, they make a mean margarita.

My Partner ( husband) and I came in from St. Louis, MO for a Square Dancing April 29, 30 and May 1 and we were greeted out on the walk and showed us there menu . Everything look so good and there Wine list was very nice Too !!!! we decided to come in and have dinner. Well there was a party of 35 that came in before us, which the waiter but our order in before the big party, so that we didn't have to wait for a long time for our meal. The place was most above than other places that have we been to. If We get a chance to come back to Rohoboth Beach I would come back there in a Heart Beat

After searching for a decent restaurant in RB that actually serves food after 9pm (for all the lucky folks fighting DC traffic after work on Friday eve's to get here) we stumbled upon Hobo's. Gretchen, the owner, warmly welcomed us and sat us in a prime spot on the patio. Both her and our waiter, Jack, were awesome at explaining all the delicious items on the extensive organic based menu and homemade drink list. She also is very willing to accommodate food allergies and picky eaters. We came back again Memorial Day weekend with a friend and once again got a great people watching spot on the patio. Gretchen came by our table to find out how she could accommodate our current cravings. She mixed and matched items on her menu specifically for us and treated us to a preview of some of her new infused vodka creations, delicious! Our waitress, Allison, was wonderful and Jack stopped by and made sure we were all doing OK as well. All I can say is that if you want to be treated to absolutely magnificent service, mouth-watering food and drinks, and a great people watching spot---go visit Gretchen and her superb crew at Hobos on Baltimore Ave in downtown Rehoboth Beach..you will surely enjoy!

Highly overpriced. Any self-respecting vegetarian or vegan would not be taken by their underwhelming and small white rice and veggie bowls. One member of our party wasn't notified they were out of the fish she had ordered until everyone else's entrees had been delivered. Service was lacking to say the least. $20+ quesadillas that were creative but not delicious enough to justify price. $18 veggie burger was very good but again very overpriced and served with sweet potato fries that were so over cooked they were just crisp skins with air in the middle rather than moist potato flesh. Very disappointing.

It's weird how some of the earlier reviews complained about the service; when I went it was almost like they wouldn't leave you alone. Food had some ups and downs: the brie & mushroom quesadilla was AMAZING and while just an appetizer it was big enough for a whole meal. My veggie burger had some issues. It was supposed to come with an olive tapenade and instead had a really greasy, grilled vegetable mush. It didn't have much taste on top of that. Prices were really high based on what you got - lunch for three people, with no drinks was $89. I would go again just for the great vegetarian options but I'd be careful what I picked the next time around.

First and last time at this restaurant, found hair in food, service was confusing, we had 4 different people waiting on our party of 9 and food wasn't that good. Hallway to the bathrooms gives a birds eye view of the kitchen that seemed dirty and cluttered. The bathroom was NOT clean! We had to calculate our own bill. We were handed our original hand written bill and spent 20 minutes trying to split the bill 4 ways. Just not for me, guess I'm not a Hobo.

My fiance and I came to Rehoboth Beach with our dog, not realizing that we couldn't take her onto the beach, so we decided to stay for lunch. We used our phones to look up restaurants that are dog friendly, and decided to try a new restaurant. The hostess on the outdoor patio seemed a little put off that we had come with our dog, and reluctantly sat us on the patio at a high top, which, if we didn't have our dog would have been fine, but we wanted to be at a lower table to more easily keep her leash at our side, and when we requested one of the open, lower tables, she flatly told us they were reserved. The menus came out quickly, and our server was nice enough, but didn't seem to know a lot about the menu. We split a chicken wrap, that to be honest was lacking in flavor and was forgettable, and was also over priced. We wanted very badly to like this place, but we don't think we will be returning.

Inedible, overpriced food. Subpar service. We went to this place because we had our dog with us and wanted to stop somewhere for happy hour. They said they had happy hour, but the easier to had no idea what's on it. When he found out we ordered drinks, crab dip and sweet potato fries. The crab dip showed in 5 minutes, which was alarming. The bread was deep fried in what smells like oil used to fry fish. The dip tasted like microwaved store bought dip. The drinks took 20 minutes to show up. When the sweet potato fries they were the worst. They were raw. Even when they took then back to fry then some more they were horrible. Probably left over from last season. The only reason they get 1 star is they gave our dog water. Steer clear

Yo this place f***ing rocked!!! I am a vegan and this Delaware town is very lame. Everyone is wearing a polo? What's up with that? Anyway this restaurant felt very out of place and cool. Non-gender specific bathrooms, beautiful chairs, very friendly staff. The food THE FOOD was some of the best sh*t I have Ever eaten. And I'm from NYC. I had the vegan chicken quesadilla and vegan Mac and cheese. My brother who usually hates vegan food said it tasted like real cheese and he would not be able to tell the difference, had he been bamboozled. Um why are all the drivers in this state so aggressive? Unrelated to this restaurant. Great place. Five stars. Way too expensive but who cares???

Every time we visit Rehoboth Beach, we make it our aim to eat at Hobos, at least once, but we end up there often. Whether you want a little nosh or a full meal, you cannot go wrong. Every morsel is lovingly prepared with the finest, locally-grown, sustainable ingredients. And the hand-crafted cocktails?Try every one. Twice. It'll quickly become your favorite place in this lovely, charming town.

Food was good but overpriced. Service was really bad; waited over an hour for our food, and server was not knowledgable about the menu at all. We chose this place during our Rehoboth vacation because my wife has food allergies and we read they were sensitive to them but the server seemed taken aback by our allergy requests. The only reason it's not one star is because the food was tasty when it finally arrived. And the kitschy decor was pretty cool.

We came here just to get some drinks, which I can understand can make waiters upset. However, when the place is pretty much empty, you would think that they would take the money where they can. We were pretty much pushed out of the establishment by the rudeness of the staff. The management has little to no idea of how to treat a customer. This is not the first time that I've heard of stuff like this happening here and I will never be returning. In all fairness I did not try the food so I cannot give this zero stars. I'll give it one for kicks and giggles.

My friend and I went into Hobos for brunch on Sunday, desperately needing sustenance from our previous nightly outing. It was Labor Day weekend and the place surprisingly sparse, maybe 7-10 tables. Our server was friendly but obviously inexperienced. My friend ordered a coffee and had to ask several times for cream. I ordered an orange juice. Our server wasn't sure if they had it. I eventually got it. We ordered a turkey sandwich and a Cuban sandwich for out meals. In the mean time, Two other tables had been sat and ordered after us. We waited 35 minutes as the those two tables got their food. We asked our server about the wait. He explained to us that the menu was very eclectic and that they only had two chefs working at the time. We waited another 5 minutes and then politely excused ourselves. My friend and I both work in food service, a combined 20 years, and have never walked out of a restaurant. Granted we were hungry and maybe impatient but I know for a fact that with proper preparation and management that two sandwiches should never take 40 minutes to make. This experience is indicative of the mismanagement and unprofessionalism that rumors of this place have stated. I wanted to give Hobos a fair chance but was ultimately left disappointed.

A group of three ate there last night. It took almost an hour to get our food, which was only so-so and over-priced. No apologies, no offers of free drinks, or a dessert to share. We were about to leave when we're were finally served. Avoid this place.

Pricey apparently because of the organic/grass fed ingredients but not worth it. Just not very flavorful. I can get a better quesadilla for half the price elsewhere. $20+ for a dilla? No thx so much good food in rehoboth if I'm spending $25 for an entree I'll do it elsewhere

Food was very good and fresh. A little pricey, and they were out of the salad I had really wanted. The substitute I chose was still very good. It was the waiter's first day, so the service wasn't the best, but he was trying. The chef even checked in to make sure he had asked everything he was supposed to ask.

Horrible. ..don't go. Food quality is substandard and not worth the price. I've been a couple of times because I like to eat healthy. First time my salmon was undercooked....ok I gave them a second try. 2nd time they wanted to charge $26 for a wilted lettuce salad???? Absolutely not. Won't ever step foot here again.

Not worth it! Many other restaurants ALOT better at the beach! We went there on Saturday night...only found parking in front of hobos with 30 minute meter parking...ie you have to feed the meter every 30 minutes ....crazy...anyway this was not a good thing for the service at hobos....my husband had a timer on his phone so he knew when he had to go feed the meter....see where I'm going with this?,, we get a table right away....great...we order a bottle of wine....which we didn't get before hubby had to feed the meter....really!? It took the not so busy bar tender a over a half hour to open a bottle of wine!? Just before hubby goes to feed the meter...our server comes to the table after 20 mins of us sitting to take our order...my husband was trying to make sense of the crazy menu..which u needed a magnifying glass to read! Not to mention the high prices...anyway..we were in the middle of giving our order...and an other employee comes over to our server...whispers something in his ear...and our server abruptly says he has to go handle something and asked the guy that whispered in his ear to finish taking our order. So we give this other guy our order...and he precedes to walk over to another table and talk to them until our server came back....and he handed him our order and then it was brought back to the kitchen!?! Ok..what was the point of that?! On his way back from feeding the meter hubby asked the hostess why the service was so slow? The place was not that busy and it looked like a lot of employees walking around the resturant socializing....hostess said she would speak to our server.. ..WELL! The server came right over to our table and said be patient..I have other tables besides ours....the guy just wasn't great at time management....he had a table behind us...and he spent a lot of time kissing their butts..I mean it was nauseating.... He had someone else bring us our dinners....which was not that good...I ordered the eggplant , which he assured me that the eggplant would be cooked properly....it was not it was under cooked....he told my husband that what he was getting was not going to be spicy....it was ...never asked us if we wanted coffee or dessert just gave us the bill...sucky service......we spent $100 and it was not good ...waste of time and money....the Aqua grill looked like a better option...we walked over there and we were looking at their menu....prices were about $10 cheaper than hobos...and there were a lot more people eating there and it looked like everyone was having a really good time.....that will be our next choice for dinner at rohoboth.

This place was train wreck from the start. The whole time I was there I was thinking that it would be a perfect candidate for Kitchen Nightmares. More for its weird idiosyncrasies than the food quality but either way there needs to be an overhaul here if they are going to compete with the pretty stellar competition in Rehoboth. My wife perused various websites the night we decided to go to Hobo's. On Hobo's website, she saw several dishes on the dinner menu that she thought would be tasty. She should have probably checked out the Our Story page on the same website to figure out that something wasn't quite right about the place/owner. Our Story seems to gets a little too personal - I'd like to know about your food and restaurant, not your baby daddies. Anyway we walk into Hobo's on a Friday night at 7pm on a holiday weekend. There are 2 other tables seated. Should have been a red flag. The decor was a little funky. Sock monkeys all over the bar and a sign that said something along the lines of "If you think our chef is hot, wait til you see her calendar - 2015 calendars for sale". Apparently the chef/owner has a calendar of glamour shots. Not what I expect in a farm to table type of place that seemed to be trying to be upscale (at least its prices indicated that). We get our menus and they are difficult to get through. A simple 1 page front and back in maybe 11 or 12 point font. The entrees seemed to be thrown on the back in no order and no separation. It would have been nice to have headers to separate the Quesadillas, Sandwiches, Fish, etc. Of course none of the dishes my wife saw online were on the menu but to be fair they do change the menu daily based on what they have, but it was still disappointing not to have one of the 5 or 6 things she liked on the menus she saw. The strangest part was the long diatribe printed on the top of the page above the entrees about telling the staff about any allergies, complete with examples and caveats about not reinventing the menu. It took up probably as much space as the salads on the menu. Our waiter also thoroughly covered the allergy thing almost as soon as we sat down. Did they get burned by some one with allergies or just neurotic about them? Then there was also a little note about preferring to tip your waiter in cash if using a credit card. I understand why they ask but these little notes and disorganized menu just started me out with odd taste in my mouth. My wife ordered what was noted as the the best organic Mojito ever made in life or something along those lines for $10. She was not impressed. Since she couldn't find an entree she liked, she ordered a crab, artichoke and goat cheese dip which was actually pretty good. The bread that came with it looks like a baguette that had been sliced and fried (deep fried?) to an almost melba toast consistency. It tasted good but was pretty greasy. I ordered a $20 mushroom brie quesadilla. To its credit, it was huge - like probably a 12" tortilla folded over and a 1/2" thick with mushrooms and cheese huge. But oddly enough it seems just tossed on a plate, was not cut and it too was oily on the outside (I expected some oiliness with the cheese inside). It didn't seem to have a lot of seasoning and pretty much just tasted like brie and mushroom, which isn't necessarily bad but I can make that at home for a lot less than $20. Service was good. Our waiter was prompt and friendly and did his best to guide us to dishes and drinks; unfortunately the execution was not there. We dropped over $50 w/ tip on a quesadilla, crab dip, a mojito and a beer. I'd rather have had those items been spectacular tasting and smaller portioned than big and mediocre. It seemed the table next to us thought Hobo's was the best place ever but perhaps I'm just not getting it. I'm all for farm to table, organic, locally sourced, etc. but the food we had did not feel like a good value. With just as expensive and better tasting options within walking distance, Hobo's likely won't get our return business. At least we had a interesting experience to to tell our friends

Excellent food, interesting atmosphere, and pet friendly seating available. Staff was helpful and vegetarian item on the menu

The constant excellence continues. We were here the other night. I wanted a gluten free vodka. They have Chopin, which I know and buy at home., The revelation? The deep fried gluten free crostini with eggplant dip. Wow! Even my partner was surprised at the "this can't be gluten free bread - it doesn't suck!" We both had Buddha Bowls, I may have exceeded NRC safety limits with the srirachca. Oops. Amy, another vodka please! Amy was a delightful server, more like having a kid sister on a date - in a good way. Interruptions at the right moments, never off or pushy.

This place has fallen on hard times. i went when the first opened, the menu was excellent, prices were...ok... but the vegan inspired menu was good. Since then, my wife and i have visited once or twice in the last 2 years. The wait staff couldn't care less, the prices are even higher, for extremely sub-par food. Totally sucks because it was great. that being said, the crostini and the hummus is still good and the "best damn mojito" drink is still petty good too. Probably wont be going back, a dinner for two will set you back about 60$ or 70$ and its just plain not worth it.

Our go-to place for great vegan food here at the beach. Gretchen does an awesome job... the staff are friendly and very down to earth. Drinks are well-poured and the food is always just so delectable. I love the Buddha bowls and anything she does with seitan the best...!

Hobo's is a study in contrasts. Observe the astronomical prices printed on a one-sheet paper menu with design so atrocious that it looks, as another reviewer aptly put it, like "one gigantic run-on sentence." It was genuinely very difficult to read, and we probably spent about twice as long ordering as we would have with a properly designed menu. The $18 vegan "philly cheesesteak" I ordered was, in fact, an open-faced Beyond Meat chicken sandwich on ciabatta, topped with a cheesy sauce our waiter told us was made with "Daiya and vegenaise." A lettuce-and-tomato salad was involved -- I'm not quite sure how or why -- but it was all mixed together on a giant plate. It was the sort of dish I would expect to find at a 24-hour college diner -- and expect to pay about $10 less for. It tasted fine. My girlfriend chose the veggie burger, which was oddly not marked as vegan (although the waiter promised it was). The waiter also told her the fries came free, a claim our bill later disputed. However, the veggie burger was absolutely delicious -- one of the best veggie burgers I've ever tasted. Well-worth the $12 or $14. Ultimately I'm not quite sure what to think. As one of the only restaurants in the area with decent vegan options, I'm likely to return to Hobo's. But I will not be ordering the $18 cheese steak/chicken sandwich/salad monstrosity again. And I sincerely hope that someone takes the time to at least left-align the menu before I return. I have to say something else about the menu. The "dinner" menu (separate from lunch, given to us anyway), included what I can only describe as a diatribe in which the chef/owner/someone asks the reader to please notify his or her server about any food allergies or preferences (Great!) but warns them that "this does not include an open invitation to redesign the menu" (Ooookay.) She then explains that "this journey is a partnership and like any great team we must talk and work together to be the best that we can be." Well, I was just trying to get some lunch.

Awful! Seems the B-team chef must have been on. If the owner doesn't teach the staff how to execute the menu items then doesn't matter what's on there. Third time there and so far so now 3 strike outs so will probably not return or recommend. You have to be on the ball in Rehoboth to compete with all the great restaurants and be Consistent in your food prep. Too bad as the menu descriptions sound great, just not executed well.

There was a time when Hobo's was our favorite restaurant in Rehoboth and worthy of four or five stars. Yet despite winning a number of awards a few years ago, the restaurant is going through some kind of an identity crisis. The menu used to feature around ten entrees, including an encrusted scallop dish that was one of the best meals I've ever had. Now there are thirty some-odd selections, the scallops are nowhere to be found, and while there's a concerted effort to be vegan friendly, the execution falls short. I ordered the Philly "Cheese" steak, a vegan dish made with faux chicken and cheese sauce. The sandwich itself was fine and I didn't mind that it was open face on ciabatta. But for whatever reason, a salad consisting of romaine, tomato and ranch dressing was dumped on top of everything. I'm still trying to figure it out. And I hope the dressing was vegan. Like I said, the sandwich was OK, just not up to my level of expectations based on prior visits.

A few of my family members love this place because their menu accomodates those with food allergies and/or dietary lifesytles. A perfect ploy for this generation of eaters. This place has a cool atmosphere, I guess. It's definitely appealing to those who are swooned by that "eastern" sort of decor. The real problem with this place is that it's absurdly overpriced. There's nothing worse than paying a lot of money for a subpar dinner and feeling like you got totally ripped off afterwards. A few memories from my last dining experience here: -being grossed out by the dip Trio -the highly intoxicated member of the wait staff who just got off his shift and was making a fool of himself on the patio -numerous errors on our cocktail orders -scoffing at the price of their Buddha Bowls Would I go back? Yes, but only because I lost the vote on the "where-to-go-to-dinner" poll

We came for brunch and Bloody Mary's and were disappointed by the entire experience. The staff seemed less than friendly or welcoming, and our server was certainly not in a good mood. We ordered two $10 Bloody Mary's, and what we received were half-pint glasses of very watered down, tasteless drinks which were filled to the brim with ice. We were not pleased, so we kindly asked our server to substitute them for something different. After a considerable wait, she brought the manager over, who spoke to us very condescendingly about how a Bloody Mary is made. I told him I understood all that but, regardless, they tasted watered down, and we wanted something else or nothing at all. He picked up our glasses, and brought back two smaller, more watery Bloody's. When our server brought our food out, she said that they "couldn't find the mayo" that I had asked for on my burger. Couldn't find the mayo? If you're looking for a good meal devoid of complications and poor service while dining in Rehoboth, this restaurant is not for you.

Where do I begin? Everything is top notch from the moment you enter until you leave. Hobos is a wonderful rare find when you have a vegan or person who needs to be gluten free in your group. However, they have beef, chicken and seafood for the non vegans that is also wonderfully prepared. The servers are friendly and are knowledgeable about the menu. They will accommodate any special dietary needs you may have. Most recently we stopped in for lunch and were wowed with the seafood salad. It had a generous amount large meaty shrimp, with a lemony dressing and bacon to boot. Also the chocolate lava cake for dessert was out of this world. On a prior visit I had the filet and it was excellent in its preparation and presentation. Every time I visit I am wowed by what I select on the menu. The chef/owner also shows extra kindness to my disabled mother when she accompanies me to Hobos.

Ridiculously bad. I might as well start up front by saying so. I ate dinner at Hobos with 2 other friends. I wasn't that hungry and ordered the adult grilled cheese sandwich - can't recall what I had to drink. It obviously wasn't too memorable. My sandwich arrived late - after the other two had gotten their entrees which were far more elaborate than mine. It was literally room temperature and the cheese was barely, and I do mean barely, melted. And get this - the "chef" who "prepared" it never heard of cutting a sandwich in half. So, since it was cold, I sent it back. After a LONG wait, it came back all of 10% warmer and still not cut in half. Unbelievable. Has this place got 10 year olds preparing food - illegally - in the kitchen?? So, after returning home, I called the place and talked to chef/owner. I told her about my food being bad to the point of silliness. I also told her about our waiter who, while reasonably friendly, was a clueless and incompetent server. When I asked for a full refund of what I'd paid, she agreed. Grudgingly. In one respect I hate to be so critical of a place that is (now) offering so many vegan and vegetarian options. Nevertheless, the food was miserable and the 1-star rating is richly deserved. I'd give negative stars if I could. How a restaurant could make such an utter mess of something as simple as a grilled cheese sandwich is really difficult to fathom.
